Mentoring Program
Our Mentor Program is focused on linking individuals with a pro social mentor to support them as part of their disengagement process from extremist or anti-social ideologies.
The Mentoring Program utilises community-based mentors to provide psychoeducation and guidance to individuals engaged in extremism or anti-social behaviour. The mentors offer pro social role modelling as well as targeted strategies to each mentee such as engagements with the people or groups of people that align with an ideology, religion or movement that those involved in an extremist group would have perceived as being the threat/enemy to their ideology, community engagement activities, linking with activities or even education sessions to counter the narratives of extremism or anti-social behaviour.
Reintegration Program
The Reintegration Program is a case management program where participants are supported by a dedicate Case Manager to access supports and programs to support their disengagement journey. Participants are regularly engaged with programs to address existing psychosocial concerns such as,
Housing
Education and Employment
Mental Health Concerns

Employment Program
The Employment Program is a facilitated programs which helps participants to gain access to stable and rewarding employment opportunities. Employment is a cornerstone to any person’s disengagement from extremist or anti-social behaviours, and as such ReRoute has led the development of the Employment Program which provides participants with access to tailored recruitment pathways through ReRoute’s partnerships.
ReRoute’s partnerships are designed to acknowledge the unique challenges in gaining employment for an individual engaging or disengaging from extremism and anti-social behaviour and offer targeted recruitment or upskilling opportunities not available through other programs. The Employment Program further assists participants by providing ongoing coaching and support about the impacts of their ideology on maintaining employment.
Proactive Programs are designed to provide early intervention and diversion strategies through both indirect support to individuals, as well as assisting support networks/families supporting an individuals disengagement process.
Sports Program
The Sports Program utilises a multifaceted approach towards prosocial integration, being engagement in a sport, provision of structure, and role modelling from coaches as well as integration with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Such integration seeks to counter the rhetoric of extremist ideologies that diversity seeks to change current social values (including sports) through demonstrating a shared interest/passion for such sporting culture.
This program also provides an education and training element in which local sporting groups are provided with upskilling around noticing concerning behaviours in members of their clubs who may be engaging in or at risk of engaging in extremism or anti-social behaviour. Such education and training is delivered by ReRoute Practitioners to the sporting group hosting the Sports Program session through tailored training packages for coaches, club staff and officials.
Starting the Conversation
Starting the Conversation seeks to empower key figures in a person’s life to be able to initiate an effective conversation about the risks and concerns of their engagement in extremist or anti-social behaviours.
Starting the Conversation equips parents, carers, partners, friends or other key figures in a person’s life with structured conversation guides, resource tools, tip sheets and other information about available supports to assist the key figures to feel empowered and prepared to have important conversations about the risks and consequences of engaging in extremist behaviour/activities with an at-risk individual.
Starting the Conversation also seeks to breakdown the resistance of key figures in a person’s life to be willing to explore and potentially debunk problematic extremist messaging without “shutting down” or being confrontational to those consuming extremist and anti-social material.
Safe to Support
The Safe to Support program provides education and support for families and partners of at-risk individuals to upskill them in supporting disengagement from extremism or antisocial behaviour. The Safe to Support program acknowledges that families and partners are often a key support in any disengagement pathway, however the provision of support can be a challenging and confronting experience for them.
The Safe to Support program focuses on providing referral supports for families and partners to seek their own supports, but to also ensure they are remaining safe as part of the process.
Safe to Exit
On average, one in three partners of individuals involved in extremist or anti social activities have been the victim of intimate partner violence within Australia alone. Due to the prevalence of anti female material and consumption of violent pornography within these movements, intimate partners are often at increased risk of both physical and psychological harm as a result of this material influencing behaviours.
As such, ReRoute has partnered with prominent services across the state of Victoria to provide the Safe to Exit program to intimate partners, as well as families of intimate partners, of individuals engaging in extremist or anti social activities. Safe to Exit provides structured supports to individuals seeking to disengage from their partners engagement in extremist or anti social activities in a safe and secure way.
Safe to Exit provides partners with supported access to localised services to receive assistance with disengaging prior to the experience of intimate partner violence, or accessing family violence supports should it have already occurred.
